On Monday, we welcomed two survivors at our Drop-In Centre.

On Wednesday, another victim of trafficking joined us, and we are delighted to share that one of them successfully reunited with a family she connected with here in Kumasi.

Additionally, Sister Olivia and Sister Yvonne collaborated to welcome two new victims from Burkina Faso into our temporary shelter.

Success Story: Adaora Nkem

Adaora Nkem, a 16-year-old girl from Nigeria, was trafficked to Ghana under false promises of a job. A woman from her community trusted by her family approached her parents claiming she needed a girl to assist in her restaurant in Ghana. She assured them Adaora would be well cared for, so they allowed her to travel.

Upon arrival, Adaora discovered the promised job did not exist. Instead, she was placed in an unsafe and exploitative situation. Realizing she had been deceived, she refused to comply and sought a way out.

Adaora was later helped by a Good Samaritan, a woman selling porridge in the community, who offered her temporary shelter and support. One day, while assisting the woman, a relative of the trafficker tried to force Adaora back. She resisted and called for help. Community members intervened and contacted the police, who arrested those involved.

At the police station, officers reached out to Safe Child Advocacy (SCA) for temporary shelter and support. They also informed Adaora’s parents in Nigeria about her safety. The Good Samaritan continued to stand by her throughout the process.

Today, Adaora is living safely with the Good Samaritan, who has provided a stable environment. Her parents are grateful and planning to relocate to Ghana to reunite with her.

Adaora’s journey is a powerful reminder of resilience, the strength of community support, and the importance of swift intervention in protecting vulnerable children. She is now safe, supported, and hopeful for a brighter future.
